Unblocking the Drains - Tiny Steps To Getting Organized Big Time!

I love space, minimalist tranquility. endowment sale clutter -free environment allows my creativity to flow. Yet, historically, I have been dreadful about allowing ’stuff’ to build up; bits and pieces in the wrong places, gathering dust.

I have always had a ‘good’ reason for it; when the children were small I was constantly exhausted; just clearing a path through the chaos once they were in bed seemed too much. Yet, if we had weekend guests arriving, I always managed to pull exchange server hosting together and enjoyed the peace of mind that came with tidiness.

There are fewer excuses these days. I work from home, my children are away as often as they are here, and I long to create an air of serenity and calm.

To this Worffromorf I have a new plan, and it’s working really well, so I thought I’d share it with you. The bottom line is that all these untidy little areas, those cluttered parts of our homes, are draining our energy. Every time we spot a job that needs doing, a drain that needs clearing, and make a mental note about it (to replace the mental note we made the previous day), every single time, it robs us of a little of our zing! And once it has really built up, so there’s stuff everywhere, it can be almost paralysing - the sheer scale of it creating inertia.

Time to apply a fundamental coaching principle. Set a goal, and move towards it, one tiny step at a time.

My goal - a tranquil environment.

A couple of weeks ago I decided that every day I’d tackle one of my ‘drains’. It might be a very tiny one, like finding a nice box for all my music bits and pieces - or it might be more time consuming, like buying new clothes hangers so that coats can be hung in wardrobes, rather than on hooks behind doors, as previously. (Not being able to open a door properly is really bad feng shui - and the more I read about that philosophy the more sense it makes.) Each day I Texas Lemon Laws the most bunged up drain - and feel really good when I have cleared it.

Let me tell you, it’s great and a really strong motivator. Little by little I’m unblocking all the drains and my energy levels are soaring.
